Why did I get fired for speaking the truth? I work at a Museum and am a tour guide for one of the main exhibits. This exhibit has a wait time, like at amusement parks. People have to wait in line for the next tour- we only take 20 at a time. I had worked there for only a month, and every day I would get the same stupid questions: "Is this exhibit new?", "Do we have to be waiting in line, or can we come back later?". I mean how dumb can you be? Why would you be able to come back to a line? Don't these people go to amusement parks? You can't do that waiting for a roller-coaster, why would you be able to do that here? Anyways, finally I couldn't take it. A couple asked me if they could come back later, and I said "What do you think, are you stupid?" They seemed insulted and reported me to my supervisor. He later fired me for snapping. My thing is- I had every right to tell those idiots that. They should know better then to ask a dumb question like that.
Can someone help me with a court case? I am currently involved in a court case, where the main evidence exhibit, is a photograph. The photo was taken at a distance of approximately 6 feet and the camera flash was used. What I need to know [from photography experts] is whether or not the light from the flash would prevent dark holes from being visible in a material that is white in colour? I know that you can get glare from a reflective surface, but would the flash effect things with regard to the circumstance that I have just mentioned.

How do people with narcissistic personality disorder get treated? It seems that one of the main symptoms they exhibit is that they believe nothing they do is wrong (I guess this would be true of people with sociopathic personality disorder as well, and maybe a few other ones). So how do they get to treatment, if they don't see themselves as having a problem? Perfect love/perfect trust: I feel your pain and am sorry you had to go through it. Fortunately, this is not my spouse though it is a close relative.
Dueling King Tut exhibits? There are two King Tut exhibits that open next week - one in San Francisco and one in Indianapolis. What's the main difference? Did they take the larger exhibit that toured the US recently and split it up? What gives?
Any ideas for photo exhibit on women's alienation from society? I have to make a photo exhibit for my honors english class on the main theme of the book "Surfacing" by Margaret Atwood, which is women's alienation from society. I need to capture this theme in a series of photos, I think. I have never made a photo exhibit before so any hints on that would be welcome too. I am trying to think of interesting things I could take pictures of to include in my exhibit. ANY help would be highly appreciated.

What movie should I pick for my psychology assignment? As part of the assignment, we're supposed to select a movie and note all correlations between content of movie and the content learned in class. What are some good movies out there, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF A BEAUTIFUL MIND, in which the main character or characters exhibit strongly any topic discussed in a general psychology course? The key word here is "strongly" as just about any movie could fall in that category.
Why do the Cleveland Browns suck so much? It was a warm spring day in Canton, OH, and a father decided to take his 8-yr-old son to visit the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Since February of that year, the Hall had set up a special exhibit highlighting the Pittsburgh Steelers' 6th Super Bowl win & all the fanfare surrounding it. As they walked to the central exhibit (which was surrounded by fans of the Steeler Nation from all over), the little boy looked up in awe at the 6 shiny, silvery Super Bowl trophies that were the main attraction of the exhibit. "Wow!" Timmy exclaimed in amazement. "The Steelers are super, aren't they? They won 6 times?" "That's right," his dad said proudly. "The Pittsburgh Steelers have always been known as the kings of football. They have 6 rings to prove it." Timmy & his father spent the good part of an hour taking everything in about the exhibit - the trophies, the replica rings, the game-used Super Bowl uniforms & the Terrible Towels. Finally, the boy turned to his father and asked, "Dad, does the Hall have a Browns' championship display?" "Sure," his father answers as he leads the way to the farthest, darkest corner of the exhibit hall. Not one person is mulling by this exhibit. Everyone seems to be at the "Super Steelers" main exhibit. Because the boy loves football so much, he dashes over to the Browns' exhibit, his eyes wide with excitement and anticipation, expecting to see another glorious display of gleaming Vince Lombardi trophies like he saw at the Steelers' exhibit. Instead, he spies pre-1920s leather helmets, a wool jersey that looked like it came from a World War I prison camp & an oddly-shaped rock. Everything was draped in thick cobwebs. And the back wall of the exhibit had strange drawings on it, which the boy puzzled over, his brow wrinkling. Immediately, the boy's smile wavered & the excitement in his eyes vanished. "What's all this stuff?" he asked his dad, his voice heavy with disappointment and confusion. "Well, this marks the greatest days of the Cleveland Browns. The rock is what they used as a football back in those days. This particular rock was actually quarried from cavemen. And that helmet & jersey is what the Browns' wore back in their heydey." Taking all this in, his son pointed at the wall with markings on it. "What's that, Dad?" Timmy's dad smiled. "Well, those are cave drawings that detail the history of the Cleveland Browns championship years. Other teams have DVDs which highlight their accomplishments, but the gift shop doesn't sell Browns DVDs because it was hard to transfer cave drawings to good-quality images. No, what you're seeing here, son, is the real thing. Cave drawings from the first championship game." "Did they win?" Tim asked. "I think so," said his dad, pointing to a small crude object carved from rock. "That's their trophy." Timmy leaned in for a closer look. "What's those deep marks on it?" he asked. "Looks like dinosaur teeth markings," his dad replied. "Oh." "Well, want to see the rest of the Hall?" his dad asked. "Sure, but Dad, I...uh, need to use the bathroom first." Spying the restrooms off to the right, Timmy started to run toward them. "No! Timmy! Stop! You're not allowed in there!" Stopping dead in his tracks, Timmy turned around and eyed his dad quizzically. "Why not, Dad?" "Hall rules...that's the OTHER part of the Browns' exhibit. You know...the toilet bowl is the only bowl they've made it to since their glory years. And that sign says, "Please do NOT touch Hall exhibits."
Just how panicky are the Democrats and the media? They are grasping at anything to cover up Obama's first 6 months of ignorance and his exhibiting total inexperience. Sex scandals go away in a hurry even when you have the Obama serial posters and the media to keep it going. The main stream Democrats have shut up Pelosi & Reid and they know that Obama policies are reducing their chances of retaining a congressional majority in 2010 & 2012.

What are some of the main indicators of Autism in children & do they occur in other behavior disorders? I have a 4 year old son who is very bright and loving but has recently become very hesitant about unfamiliar situations, people. He is showing an increased need to have things remain the same and exhibits xtreme tantrums( rage and non-verbal anger) when threatened by the unfamiliar or environmental and routine change. This is difficult for me because I've never been good at routines , am very creative and like to re-arrange furniture regularly. the worst part about all of this is that he often places himself in extreme danger out of fearful responses to certain situations. I plan to contact my doctor regarding my concerns but am hesitant because I don't want to face the fact that medication may be recommended. I'm seeking ways to help him manage his concerns and make better choices. Please help.
Best lens on a compact digital camera? I'm looking to buy a new compact digital camera (I already have a digital SLR). I'm not so much interested in the latest gimmicks or an extreme number of megapixels or zoom range; my main criterion is lens quality. I'd be grateful for recomendations on which camera(s) exhibit the least vignetting and curvature of straight lines at the corners of the image. I'm happy to pay a premium price for this but if you know of any bargains, I wouldn't mind hearing about them too! Thanks. Thanks for all the helpful answers so far, especially the ones that have been more specific about possible choices. The answers just seem to be getting better and better and it's going to be hard to choose a 'best', although Dr. Sam's is going to be hard to beat!

why do animals exhibit homosexuality? i am asking this from a strictly SCIENTIFIC/zoologist/animal behaviorist standpoint....the main drive of animals is to successfully get their genes into the next generation and increase fitness, while decreasing costs. homosexuality would actually increase energy costs, and therefore decrease total fitness. why then do some animals exhibit homosexuality?

Is this fear or unsureness? We recently adopted a new dog, a one year old black lab/australian sheep dog mix who is very sweet, has bonded with her main caregiver, but exhibits these behavior traits with me. When I'm out walking with her caretaker, she's constantly looking back at me , she won't get on the elevator if I'm on there, and she runs away from me when I approach her, actually when I'm just walking toward her. What's going on with her? Thanks. The weird thing is that our previous Black Lab liked me a lot.

what are the kinds of things the average person would like to know about spiders? I have taken biology courses and have read and studied spiders for a long time and it hard for me to think what the common person would want to know about spiders. Also I have learned things from collecting and keeping them alive that no textbook could cover. For me I like to know very scientific things about them that would go over someone elses head. Next year (or at least the year after), I plan on making a exhibit at the next county fair about spiders to educate the public. Some things I want to cover is that not all spiders are poisonous but its dependent on where you live also and some behaviorial patterns. Any ideas? My main purpose is make people understand that not all spiders should be killed because they have eight legs and crawl on walls.

In the Nancy Drew game called "Secret of the Scarlet Hand", how do you match the recorded narrations? As Nancy Drew, you are given a list of tasks to complete. I was able to complete the first few, but tasks #5 and #6 have really stumped me. Number 5 = "Match Recorded Narrations" Number 6 = "Reorder Mayan number exhisbit in main exhibition hall" So far I have gone around the museum with the headphones, and listened to the different stations to see if the audio recording matches the station. Some of them do not, although I am not sure how to switch them. I am also not sure how and where to solve the auto narrator puzzle. (I know I am supposed to change the number for each of the lettered exhibits, but...how? Where?) I have so many questions, this is very unclear to me which is frustrating, but I love this game, and the sooner I can complete it the better. Thanks to anyone who can offer advice, I would really, really appreciate it. :)
How do we recognize and deal with rebellion in children? A Gallup Survey revealed the main failures that parents exhibit in the raising of their children: 1] No child discipline 2] Parents too lenient 3] Children have it too easy 4] Children neglected 5] Children unattended 6] Parents setting a poor example 7] Children not treated as persons 8] Children given too little responsibility In a Gallup Youth Survey, it was revealed that parents have reaped what they have sown. The top teenage problems revealed drug and alcohol abuse, unemployment, and peer pressure.

Decorating an auditorium? My boyfriend and I are thinking about getting married here: http://www.bellmuseum.org/auditorium.htm And then having our reception amongst the exhibits in the main part of this museum. For the ceremony, we would play a presentation of photos from our childhoods as well as our relationship together on that big projection screen. Then we'd probably have the last picture be one of the two of us -- or a compilation of lots of the different photos -- and it would just freeze up there and just stay there during processional and the ceremony so people aren't looking at a white screen for the whole ceremony. But, looking at this space, what else can we do to make it more of a wedding and less of a lecture? What is feasible on a small budget? I think it would cost too much for me to completely change the space, but is there a way to work with the lines and colors to improve it? Low-cost suggestions? Lighting? Flowers? It's an autumn wedding.
Why would somebody celebrate the death of innocents openly? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sbarro_restaurant_suicide_bombing Palestinian exhibit Palestinian students at the Al Najah exhibition After the suicide bombing, Palestinian university students at the An-Najah University in the West Bank city of Nablus created an exhibition celebrating the one year anniversary of the Second Intifada. The exhibit’s main attraction was a room-sized re-enactment of the bombing at Sbarro. The installation featured broken furniture splattered with fake blood and human body parts as well as an idealized portrait of the suicide bomber holding a Koran and an automatic rifle. Also featured in the exhibition is a room with mannequins dressed as suicide bombers carrying automatic rifles in one hand and the Koran in the other, and aside another mannequin dressed up to resemble an Orthodox Jew with a taped voice quoting from the Muslim Hadith[ ]:: "O believer, there is a Jewish man behind me. Come and kill him." The entrance to the exhibition was illustrated with a mural depicting the bombing. The exhibit was later shut-down by Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.(thank goodness)
What is the entire biological evolution of sexuality? (Maturity only)? If our main purpose on earth is to spread our DNA and engineer offsprings, where does the line between pyschological behavior and primal instincts cross? Sexuality is entirely biological, with almost every known animal species exhibiting some form of heterosexual and homosexual attraction, but how did the human genitalia evolved from the primates? Why did this occur and how is that our brains can be excited by hormonal stimulation? The human male genatalia is larger than any primate whereas the female hips have evolved into a wider arrangement.
B of the Bang! Manchester, UK. Was this originally in Moss Side? I have been reading about this sculpture on Wikipedia and seem to remember a similar (perhaps smaller) version of the same in the Moss Side main entrance area of Manchester when visiting regularly around 20 years ago. It (which no longer exists) was removed some months before the 'new' exhibit was opened. Is the new sculpture an exact replica of the original, a completely new design or a variant of the original? Sorry if this question is slightly limiting, but I will be very grateful for any accurate information which may calm the confusion raised by potentially half a story from Wiki.
Threadfin butterfly, ich, or something else? My threadfin butterfly has white spots at the very tip of his tail, and top of his fin only. He is eating normally, and is not exhibiting an unusual behavior. I started running a UV sterilizer last night. I can't decide if I should setup a hospital tank (I have inverts, so can't treat for ich in the main tank). Is this ich, or possibly something else? How long can I 'wait and see'?
Can someone give me suggestions on my research paper? I need to revise it and would appreciate and remarks about areas that I need to improve on. Thanks in advance? Debussy: A Pioneer in the World of Music As a pianist sits down to practice Reflections in the Water by Debussy, he feels a sense of nostalgia before the he even starts playing. He drifts into the piece, and falls unconsciously into an ethereal world. The music paints a rich and charming picture of rippling water-so simple, yet so beautiful. In Reflections in the Water, notes are not just notes. The broken chords become a ripple of water flowing up and down the keyboard. The simple one note melody in the left hand transforms into droplets falling into the water. Slowly, the music accelerates. The ripples become more intense, their charm and power swirling in the air. The rain is pouring onto the water, creating frenzied yet serene reflections of autumn trees and drifting clouds, radiating pastel splashes of scarlet, indigo, blue, orange, and magenta. Then the reflections slow down in a hushed diminuendo. The ripples are once again peaceful. The pianist is drawn into the mysterious scene that the piece paints. Who is the composer behind this masterpiece? He is the one and only Debussy, whose compositions float on the border between daydream and reality. Debussy was a pioneer in a whole different genre of music. He strayed away from the strict musical conventions of his time, such as the ABA form, venturing off into an undiscovered world of bizarre musical forms and style. Debussy also created many songs based off of Symbolist poems and Impressionist paintings (Halliwell 90). Critics did not understand or appreciate his strange formless music. Renowned composer Massenet declared, "He is an enigma" (Henry-Lang and Bettman 238). According to One of Debussy’s teachers told him “I am not saying that what you do isn’t beautiful, but it’s theoretically absurd” (Kamien 440). Fellow musicians casted off his works, but modern musicians have come to idolize Debussy. Debussy’s experimentations and unconventional ways have revolutionized the art of music, influencing many later composers to seek new styles and sparking new forms of music such as jazz. Debussy’s music can be understood through two important aspects of his music-Impressionism and Symbolism. Impressionism, the main style of which Debussy was attributed to, “marks a crisis-point in nineteenth-century art” (Lucie-Smith 8). Paris was the hubbub of the revolution of art. Until then, art followed strict conventional methods. Paintings were drawn as realistically as possible. A group of artists in France sprang up in opposition to the detailed conventional styles of art. After photography was invented during the mid-1800s, painting realistic pieces was no longer ideal (Lucie-Smith 8). Why work meticulously for detail when a camera could capture nature and society in exact form? This new art form called Impressionism was different unlike ever seen before. Impressionists sought to develop innovations in color and light-one thing photographs lacked. Impressionists manipulated color by “painting in small, pure touches that coalesced to create the required hue only when the spectator stood at a certain distance from the canvas” (Lucie-Smith 9). In the same way, Debussy sought to implement colorful and illuminated harmonies in his work. Moreover, Impressionists believed in creating their artworks in the open air to capture the essence of nature and “achieve a perfect reproduction of what the eye really perceived” (Lucie-Smith 9). Any other aspect of art was “pushed aside as an irrelevance” (Lucie-Smith 9). One excellent example of Impressionistic art was Sisley’s Le brouillard. This landscape painting consisted of random colored dots. However, when viewed at a certain distance, Le brouillard seems to transform from capricious colored dots to a painting capturing the playful effects of light. Not surprisingly, many art critics viewed the paintings by the French Impressionists threatening to the “perfect” conventional form of art. Debussy, who lived in Paris (the birthplace of Impressionism), was considered an Impressionist for his formless music that contained unconventional harmonies. Like the Impressionists, his music did not state a precise story or idea, but suggested the beauty and color of nature. Many of Debussy’s works are musical forms of Impressionist paintings. Debussy is generally viewed as an Impressionist, but many art historians claim that Debussy was also a Symbolist-with good reason. Symbolism sprang from Impressionism. The two are very similar. Symbolism focused on “the richness offered by the life of the senses” (Lucie-Smith 13), which included the effects of light as in Impressionism. An obvious difference between the two was that Impressionism dealt with painting, while Symbolists applied their ideas to poetry. The Symbolist takes what he observes with his senses and transforms the image into something otherworldly. Similarly, Debussy depicted ethereal images in his pieces with his unconventional and mysterious harmonies which charmed the senses. Renoir, a famous Symbolist, acknowledges the sensual aspect of Symbolism: “What the world brings to us through our most basic perceptions is also, necessarily, the material from which we build our dreams” (Lucie-Smith 14). Just like he composed music based off Impressionist paintings, Debussy also composed music for Symbolist poetry. One of his most famous piano pieces, Clair de Lune (Moonlight), is based off a poem with the same name by Verlaine (Medea). His dreamy music enriched the senses of the listener. “One can actually imagine the snow dancing and feel the touch of the chilly evening air in The Snow is Dancing” (Medea), a piece from his album The Children’s Corner. Regardless of whether Debussy is seen as an Impressionist, Symbolist, or both, he will always be remembered as the pioneer altered the course of music. A variety of events in Debussy’s life helped to inspire his music. By looking at Debussy’s life, one can see Debussy’s road of maturation in becoming a composer that sparked a musical profusion. Achille-Claude Debussy was born in Paris on August 22, 1862. Debussy’s father soon realized the boy had talent and sent him to be trained with Antoinette-Flore Maute, a family friend. In 1872, Debussy continued his studies at the Paris Conservatory as a full-time student. It was in his three years at the Paris Conservatory of Music that Debussy began to experiment with new musical ideas that challenged existing musical beliefs. Many of the teachers criticized his bizarre music. They couldn’t understand why Debussy would experiment with unusual tones, and compose formless music that didn’t center on a certain key (such as the key of C). One of his teachers at the Paris Conservatory asked: “Whose rule do you follow?” (Thompson 5). Debussy responded, “My own pleasure” (Thompson 5). Saint Saens, a well-known composer at the time, stated his view in a letter to fellow composer Faure: “I advise you to look at the pieces for two pianos…It’s incredible, and the door of the Institute must at all costs be barred against a man capable of such atrocities” (Sadie 310). These are only two examples of the numerous criticisms that Debussy received throughout his career. Luckily, Debussy studied in Paris, the birthplace of Impressionism. Debussy soon met likeminded writers and artists. He had many discussions with the talented artists and poets. Debussy became close friends with a poet by the name of Verlaine. The Symbolist poet Verlaine would later inspire much of Debussy’s music. In 1884, Debussy entered the Prix de Rome competition with lofty expectations, but won only won second prize. “The Conservatory condemned the piece” (Halliwell, 88) for having shifting harmonies and its unconventional style. He won first prize the following year and was awarded a four-year study in Rome. It was in Rome that Debussy met Liszt, a famous composer and pianist that would widely influence his later works. “Liszt encouraged Debussy to seek out Renaissance music” (Halliwell 88), especially the music played in Rome’s churches. This type of music was commonly based on the ethereal whole tone scale, which Debussy utilized in many of his mature imagery works, as in Suite bergamasque. After his study in Rome, Debussy returned home to Paris, where his parents disparaged him for failing to become an exceptional pianist, and in particular, for not bringing home any money. With spare time on his hands, Debussy frequently visited cafes where he listened to artists and writers discuss things. It was at the Bookshop of Independent Art where Debussy met with the group of poets known as the Symbolists. The Symbolists would leave a lasting imprint in Debussy, who later wrote songs based off of Symbolist poems and style. The Symbolists and Impressionists influenced Debussy to break away from traditional harmonies. Debussy started to utilize the whole tone scale, which didn’t have a definite tonality or key. “The whole tone harmonics” gave “his music its distinctive blurred, sonorous effect” (Thompson 10). The 1889 Paris World Exhibit introduced Debussy to a whole new world of music: Orientalism. Debussy was fascinated by the exotic tones of eastern music. Especially appealing to Debussy was Javanese gamelan music, which included many delicate and non-conventional instruments such as “tuned gongs, bells, xylophones, and tiny cymbals” (Thompson 12). The Oriental music changed his perspective on tones and harmonies. Debussy increasingly utilized dissonances, which are chords that are “jarring to the ear” (Halliwell 91). The pentatonic scales of Oriental music also attracted him. Debussy made several remarks about Oriental music after his visit to the fair: “Do you not remember the Javanese music, able to express every shade of meaning?” (Kamien 437) I am more and more convinced that music is not, in essence, a thing which can be cast into a traditional and fixed form. It is made of colors and rhythms” (Kamien 439). As the years passed, Debussy’s music became more mature. His music focused on imagery. He said of his work: “My music has no other aim than to become identified with certain scenes or objects” (Halliwell 88). One can see from Debussy’s life that friends and family greatly impacted his output. Debussy tended to write more songs when his relationships with his wives were great (he married several times). Between 1906 and 1908, Debussy churned out piano music. He dedicated a “set of six little piano pieces called Children’s Corner” (Thompson 36) to his dear daughter Chou-Chou. The piece in that set called Golliwog’s Cake-walk was one of the earliest music that included jazz elements (Kamien 424). His works encompass a surprising variety ranging from piano to orchestra. In 1909, Debussy was diagnosed with colon cancer. During this time, he composed two books of piano pieces, mainly dealing with imagery. The cancer gradually worsened, and Debussy died on March 25, 1918, leaving behind an everlasting legacy. Debussy’s music was unique to that of any other composers before him. He was one of the first composers to stray away from the traditional diatonic scale and experiment in music with the whole tone and pentatonic scales. He tried to avoid traditional harmonies and styles. The whole-tone scale, a scale where every note is a whole step apart, was a major element in his music. Because every note is a whole step apart, there is no set key of which a whole tone piece lies in (Hoffman 212). The whole tone scale suited Debussy’s works because it gave his works a blurred, dreamy, and faraway effect. The other scale that Debussy’s often used in his compositions was the pentatonic scale. It was at the Paris World Fair that Debussy was mesmerized by the pentatonic music of the Orient (Thompson 12). The general pentatonic scale that Debussy uses consists of the five black notes on the piano. Debussy implemented this scale to give his music a distinct Oriental effect. Debussy’s use of the pentatonic and whole tone scales was unprecedented in Western music. The use of these scales gave his compositions a blurry, dreamy and faraway effect. It wasn’t the use of the scales that revolutionized music, however-it was the experimentation of exotic and unorthodox scales that imprinted Debussy in musical history. Debussy breakthrough of traditional musical conventions was revolutionary. My piano teacher Toumadjanov asserts this statement in a recent interview. Debussy experimented with the whole tone and pentatonic scales and implemented them in his music. This implementation of exotic scales was revolutionary in that it served as a role model for succeeding musicians. We can see his influence in Jazz. The jazz scale was a pretty new scale in music in Debussy’s time. Debussy set an example in the musical world by using uncommon scales and techniques in his music. He was a role model for jazz. We can attribute a portion of the increasing popularity of Jazz in Europe and the rest of the Western world to him (Jazz was exported from America, but was not popular in Europe at first)... He set the standard for unorthodox music, and helped people to see that even though Jazz was not traditional, it was beautiful. Debussy also played a role in contemporary music. The scale used for contemporary music was discovered after Debussy’s death. Debussy encouraged the musical world to seek out new forms of music and not follow traditional ideals. The contemporary scale was discovered as an indirect result of Debussy’s precedent in music. In fact, musicians can find traces of the contemporary scale and style in some of Debussy’s works, whether Debussy realized this or not. Many sources also indicate the new ideas Debussy brought to the orchestra. Halliwell stated in her book: “Debussy broke conventions in his music. This involved giving new roles to instruments like the harp…Debussy is famous for rethinking the normal roles assigned to each section of the orchestra in order to allow him to create the exact sound he wanted” (88). Debussy’s orchestral piece Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun, was “a revolutionary piece, which critics claimed had no form, and altered the course of French music, leading the way into the 20th century” (Halliwell 89). Another instrument that Debussy brought out of obscurity into popularity was the flute. “It was neglected during the 19th century, but found favor with French impressionists such as Debussy, and many modern composers have since written for it” (Wade-Matthews and Thompson 80). Debussy’s rebellion against traditional music inspired many later composers. The great Stravinsky said, “I and the members of my generation owe most to Debussy” (Kamien 442). Even though Debussy wasn’t one of the most prolific composers, he was clearly one of the most influential composers in the history of music. Normally when pianists hear the name Debussy, they recognize him for the surreal quality that floats about his compositions; they recognize him for the pieces that paint a magical picture in the listener’s mind, but miss his real significance to music. Throughout the 20th century, Debussy was leading a quiet revolution in music. He was the pioneer of non-traditional music. He was the role model for other composers that ventured into new forms of music such as contemporary. Debussy pushed the boundaries of music and made music be simply music. He revolutionized the orchestra, and its instruments. He opened the world’s eyes to music’s true purpose-pleasure. Debussy was the painter of mystery, silence, the infinite, the sunlit shimmer of the waves. He was the painter of a cheery fragrance in the air, of nostalgia, and of dreams. Is it a coincidence that jazz exploded in popularity after his death; is it a coincidence that the flute, cymbals, and harp play a major role in current orchestras? Is it a coincidence that Stockhausen’s famous orchestra Stimmung, features the major 9th, Debussy’s favorite chord, throughout the whole work? (Sadie 310). Debussy’s name has been obscured in history over the past century, but there is no doubt of his immeasurable imprint in music throughout the 20th century. Debussy should have the last word: ‘We must agree that the beauty of a work of art will always remain a mystery, in other words we can never be absolutely sure “how it’s made”. We must at all costs preserve this magic which is peculiar to music and to which, by its nature, music is of all arts the most receptive’ (Sadie 310). Thesis is: Debussy's experimentation and unconventional ways have revolutionized the art of music, influecning many later composers and sparking new forms of music such as jazz
What is the main point of "In defense of talks shows" by barbara ehrenreich? UP UNTIL NOW, THE TARGETS OF BILL (THE BOOK OF Virtues) Bennett's crusades have at least been plausible sources of evil. But the latest victim of his wrath--TV talk shows of the Sally Jessy Raphael variety--are in a whole different category from drugs and gangsta rap. As anyone who actually watches them knows, the talk shows are one of the most excruciatingly moralistic forums the culture has to offer. Disturbing and sometimes disgusting, yes, but their very business is to preach the middle-class virtues of responsibility, reason and self-control. Take the case of Susan, recently featured on Montel Williams as an example of a woman being stalked by her ex-boyfriend. Turns out Susan is also stalking the boyfriend and--here's the sexual frisson--has slept with him only days ago. In fact Susan is neck deep in trouble without any help from the boyfriend: she's serving a yearlong stretch of home incarceration for assaulting another woman, and home is the tiny trailer she shares with her nine-year-old daughter. But no one is applauding this life spun out of control. Montel scolds Susan roundly for neglecting her daughter and failing to confront her role in the mutual stalking. A therapist lectures her about this unhealthy "obsessive kind of love." The studio audience jeers at her every evasion. By the end Susan has lost her cocky charm and dissolved into tears of shame. The plot is always the same. People with problems--"husband says she looks like a cow," "pressured to lose her virginity or else," "mate wants more sex than I do"--are introduced to rational methods of problem solving. People with moral failings--"boy crazy," "dresses like a tramp," "a hundred sex partners"--are introduced to external standards of morality. The preaching--delivered alternately by the studio audience, the host and the ever present guest therapist--is relentless. "This is wrong to do this," Sally Jessy tells a cheating husband. "Feel bad?" Geraldo asks the girl who stole her best friend's boyfriend, "Any sense of remorse?" The expectation is that the sinner, so hectored, will see her way to reform. And indeed, a Sally Jessy update found "boy crazy," who'd been a guest only weeks ago, now dressed in schoolgirlish plaid and claiming her "attitude [had] changed"--thanks to the rough-and-ready therapy dispensed on the show. All right, the subjects are often lurid and even bizarre. But there's no part of the entertainment spectacle, from Hard Copy to Jade, that doesn't trade in the lurid and bizarre. At least in the talk shows, the moral is always loud and clear: Respect yourself, listen to others, stop beating on your wife. In fact it's hard to see how The Bill Bennett Show, if there were to be such a thing, could deliver a more pointed sermon. Or would he prefer to see the feckless Susan, for example, tarred and feathered by the studio audience instead of being merely booed and shamed? There is something morally repulsive about the talks, but it's not anything Bennett or his co-crusader Senator Joseph Lieberman has seen fit to mention. Watch for a few hours, and you get the claustrophobic sense of lives that have never seen the light of some external judgment, of people who have never before been listened to, and certainly never been taken seriously if they were. "What kind of people would let themselves be humiliated like this?" is often asked, sniffily, by the shows' detractors. And the answer, for the most part, is people who are so needy--of social support, of education, of material resources and self-esteem--that they mistake being the center of attention for being actually loved and respected. What the talks are about, in large part, is poverty and the distortions it visits on the human spirit. You'll never find investment bankers bickering on Rolonda, or the host of Gabrielle recommending therapy to sobbing professors. With few exceptions the guests are drawn from trailer parks and tenements, from bleak streets and narrow, crowded rooms. Listen long enough, and you hear references to unpaid bills, to welfare, to 12-hour workdays and double shifts. And this is the real shame of the talks: that they take lives bent out of shape by poverty and hold them up as entertaining exhibits. An announcement appearing between segments of Montel says it all: the show is looking for "pregnant women who sell their bodies to make ends meet." This is class exploitation, pure and simple. What next--"homeless people so hungry they eat their own scabs"? Or would the next step be to pay people outright to submit to public humiliation? For $50 would you confess to adultery in your wife's presence? For $500 would you reveal your 13-year-old's girlish secrets on Ricki Lake? If you were poor enough, you might. It is easy enough for those who can afford spacious homes and private therapy to sneer at their financial inferiors and label their pathetic moments of stardom vulgar. But if I had a talk show, it would feature a whole different ca
Can someone give me revisions suggestions (clarity, organization, details, order of paragraphs, etc) Thanks? He strayed away from the strict musical conventions of his time, such as the ABA form, venturing off into an undiscovered world of bizarre musical forms and styles. Debussy also composed many songs drawn from Symbolist poems and Impressionist paintings (Halliwell 90). Critics did not understand or appreciate his strange formless music. Renowned composer Massenet declared, "He is an enigma" (Henry-Lang and Bettman 238). One of Debussy’s teachers told him “I am not saying that what you do isn’t beautiful, but it’s theoretically absurd” (Kamien 440). Fellow musicians cast off his works, but modern musicians have come to idolize Debussy. Debussy’s experimentations and unconventional ways have revolutionized the art of music, influencing many later composers to seek new styles and sparking new forms of music such as jazz. Debussy’s music can be understood through two important aspects-Impressionism and Symbolism. Impressionism, the main style that critics categorized Debussy’s works, “marks a crisis-point in nineteenth-century art” (Lucie-Smith 8). Paris was the hub of the revolution in art. This new art form called Impressionism was different, unlike anything ever seen before. Not surprisingly, many art critics considered the paintings by the French Impressionists threatening to the “perfect” conventional form of art. Debussy is generally viewed as an Impressionist, but many art historians claim that Debussy was also a Symbolist-with good reason.Symbolism sprang from Impressionism. Just as he composed music based on Impressionist paintings, Debussy also composed music for Symbolist poetry. Regardless of whether Debussy is seen as an Impressionist, Symbolist, or both, he will always be remembered as the pioneer who altered the course of music.

Can somebody help to identify an object in the night sky? I am on holiday in Spain at the moment, and there is one object in the sky every night that is significantly brighter than everything else, excluding the moon. I was convinced that it was Venus, as it was very bright and didn't exhibit the main characteristic I have always used to identify stars - the fact that their light apparently doesn't 'flicker'. My dad, on the other hand, thought it was the International Space Station, because of how bright it is compared to other things in the sky. I am staying in Los Boliches, a town close to Fuengirola on the Costa Del Sol, and the object appears over the south/south-eastern horizon (we've had to guess a rough estimate of which horizon using Google Maps). Compared to the Moon, it appears at about 9 o'clock and fairly close to the Moon, although a little higher in the sky. It has been consistently in the same place for over a week, maybe even three weeks. I have tried to look at it through binoculars, and it appears perfectly circular and has about three other 'stars' very close and in a straight line over to the left. Using our rough guesses and Google Earth's Sky feature, we had taken a guess at it being Antares, as it was bright enough and also was in roughly the same place. I'm not so sure, as the object appears not to be a star in my (admittedly amateurish) opinion. Any help in identifying this object would be much appreciated, as our slapdash efforts have so far failed to properly decipher what it is! If any proper astronomers need any more information or maybe a picture then don't hesitate to ask, I'll try to do as best I can.

To Kill a Mocking Bird? To Kill a Mocking Bird? Place an X by every true statement. 1. The Finch family lives on a main street in Maycomb. 2. Jem exhibits fear of the dark and tries to convince Dill and Scout that he is brave. 3. The Finch family is not closely related to the people in Maycomb County. 4. Atticus succeeds as a father because he respects his children and treats them like adults.
Why do White People always complain about special programs for Blacks/Minorities? I have assimilated into the white culture to avoid feeling like an outcast. Fortunately I don’t look black so I am accepted by many more whites than most black people. Being a black female is the worst because no one wants you. I have separated myself from most of the black culture because it has become so bad that it is almost destroying itself with the violent, ignorant, destructive characteristics. I am a Tom, so be it. I don’t watch BET or participate in any of the black programs because I don’t want to be viewed as a certain race. I fight the concept of race everyday, but sometimes it seems like a losing battle… It hurts so much sometimes… First of all, I'm so tired of white people whining about programs for minorities. We get these programs because we are MINORITIES. This country is mostly composed of whites; therefore almost everything is made in their favor. Caucasians don't need organizations. You guys dominant politics, own nearly all of the country, decide what we learn in schools and colleges, etc. You guys already have this country made in your image so what else do you want? Why the heck do you need your own channel like BET? You are on every channel day and night!!! When I turn on my television all I see is white people. Most of the movie stars are white, and there is a horrible bias in Hollywood. Most black movie stars are overlooked by casting directors because no one wants to see black main stars on film. Very few black stars exist; this is obvious because you always see the same ones in movies. Will Smith, Martin Laurence, Samuel L. Jackson, and how many freaking movies has Morgan Freeman appeared in? My boyfriend just asked me how it is to be black. After dating me he learned how difficult it really is to be a minority. He tells me all the time how bad he feels for me, but how much better he is treated for being a white male. He always sympathizes with me and tells me he could never understand what it is like to see your race ignored for just about everything. None of these programs even begin to elevate the status of blacks in this country anyway. There is so much ground to be risen, and it is a hard and long journey through the feelings of inadequacy and self-loathing. Most blacks will lie about how they feel about being black, but I will be honest in saying that we all feel inadequate sometimes. Why wouldn't we? As a child when I watched Disney movies or fairy tales, I always hated myself because I wasn't a beautiful white girl. My hair was nappy and short, not blonde, straight, and long. My eyes were brown not blue or green. No one wants you, and you lose hope in ever being able to be equal. People don't view you as equal, but only different. You have no idea what it is like to be a young child and know that you won’t be picked to be Cinderella because you are not white. Or knowing that white boy you like will never want you because you aren’t white. And knowing that no matter what you do you will never be equal in this society, you will always be somewhat lesser than a white person. Everyone is white but you aren’t and everyone lets you know it. Also, there is the embarrassing history of blacks and whites cruelty towards them. Remember, not even a generation has passed since blacks were openly lynched without cause or punishment to the whites that did it. Segregation was around when my mother was an adolescent and I'm only 23. Do you know how evil white people were? They killed blacks for no reason at all and watched them suffer for recreation. They gave cocaine to them to make them work harder and then lashed out against them because of the behavior it exhibited. ‘Crazed Negro’s attack’ have you guys done any research on the history of racism? There is so much more horror done to the blacks besides slavery. Most people don’t know the entire history and don’t grasp the long-term effects of discrimination and how it affects the moral and position of an entire race. Do you really think that racism still doesn't have an affect on the status of blacks and the mentality of the race? Don't you think we need programs in order to compete in the job market and to gain some freaking self-esteem? Stop saying ‘Get Over It’ because black skin color hasn’t turned white just because the law says we are all equal. You really need to stop taking your race for granted; you don't know how hard it is to be black in a world that only sees in color... My boyfriend urges me to push on and try and fight the prejudice that even he sometimes has against blacks. It is not worth it to sit and moan about the position you're in. That is why I educate people and try to make the best of what I have been given. Why do you want to take away what little hope we have left for our future?
looking my best in a scary situation? right it's an unusual situation so i'll explain a bit, I do a Media Makeup course at college and i've got roped into being a model for an exam next tuesday that involves me being made up like a Victorian sideshow freak, however i just found out it's a bodypainting exam and i'm expected to get my kit off (!) oh and that isn't all, to make it 'more authentic' us freaks are being stuck in cages and exhibited in the main area of our college so everyone can come and point and laugh. right i'm not usually really nervous about my body, but i've never got it out to EVERYONE I GO TO SCHOOL WITH before. and i'm really not the most attractive person in the world, i'm a bit chubbs and i've got some scars i keep hidden. so does anyone have any ideas on how to make the best of a bad situation other than just sucking in my belly for like 2 hours because it's going to be an embarrassing situation regardless but i'd rather it didn't make me want to kill myself. i can't not do it, then the poor girl won't have a model and she'll fail her exam. i won't just let her down.
Strange music at Ripleys aquarium? Okay I was at Ripley's Aquarium in Myrtle Beach South Carolina, and by the pirana exhibit near the main doors there is this tribal sounding music playing.... Sounds very "creepy" but its neat... I can not for the life of me find it and I called the aquarium and they don't know either.... It has the sounds in background of the instruments but has people singing in a language I do not know... Reminds me somewhat of the music you would hear on black hawk down or something like that.... Does any one know where in the world I can find this ?? Or know exactly what song I am talking about?
52 pubs a week closing in Britain ? If all the pubs in Britain closed it would make little difference to the anti social behaviour exhibited on our main streets each week. Nor would placing a minimum price on alcohol, it would be just another stealth tax that the government will try to sell in a response to crimes of drunkenness thinking that electorate would support it, they would not. Why should the vast majority of the population suffer for the crimes of a few when we all know the proper response would be to lock these criminals up for a very long time to deter the rest from carrying on. This government in its arrogance and quest for more and more taxes is changing the social culture of this country we no regard to its history, maybe it is time that this lot went and went soon. They will go down in history as the government with the golden chance that turned out to be without ideas, direction and complete fraudsters.
Museum of Fine Arts French Painting Exhibit? In the first main room, after entering, there is a painting on the wall near the exit to the next room. It is a large painting and it has an aqueduct/bridge in it with a countryside setting. Also, the caption with it talks about that artist spending time in Spoleto, Italy and using that as influence in this painting. I am wanting to find out who this artist was and what is the name of this painting. Thanks! This is definately not a Monet. it is the first room once you get the audio tour. same room as the two portraits that are part of the audio tour, but it is a big painting with an aquaduct, not just some random bridge.

which is the best trip have you undertaken till date ? Hampi was not on our radar, while traveling to Chitradurga Fort, we planned for just a weekend getaway from Bangalore by car. After finishing the trip to Kalline Kote, we instinctively decided why not rush to Hampi? It is just 150 kms away, with small stretch of 18 kms of bad road before Kudilgi on NH 13. I happened to visit during 1978 along with my parents. In those days, it was typical village with a rustic atmosphere. There was not much interest among the tourist to visit this place, which was known as ruined city, without any guide we wandered cluelessly and we landed in the peak of summer to add to our discomfort. The only distinct memory was that of Inverted Gopuram of Virupakasha temple. After a gap of nearly 30 years I find that a new civilization has emerged. Perhaps after Hampi being declared a world heritage site in 1987, a mind blowing transformation has taken place at Hampi. It is as if history is being re-written, with guides, autorikshaw round trip, bike guides, and professional tour operators unleashing knowledge to tourists. There are exists lot of similarities between POMPEII & HAMPI. The common features are : 1. Road Network 2. Water Management 3. Temple construction 4. Public functions 5. Common Bath 6. Cultural Festivity 7 Art & Sculpture 8. Well defined markets.9 Brothels Lane. Trading activity were carried out between various parts of the world in both the periods. We find gems & jewellery being traded in the bazaars. All household articles such as pottery, grains, vegetables, fruits, beetlenut, flowers etc were being traded. Further brothel lanes were located in the bazaar for the visitors and artisans from outstation. Our first point of visit was Virupaksha temple which was guided by a foreigner, because we ignored the offer to be guided @ Rs 400/- for a trip, which we thought was exhorbitant. We entered the Virupaksha temple without any enterance fee ( between 6.30 to 8 am it is free entry) The sheer grandeur started unraveling. On the left there is a sanctum which is occupied by tourists for changeover, which is really surprising. The main temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, who is supposed to have been captivated by the dedication of Pampadevi. Lord Shiva consented to marry Pampa in his avatar as Virupaksha, the presiding deity. Behind the Virupaksha temple lies a room wherein we can view the inverted image of the main tower through a pin hole. It is application of Periscope principle. The bazaar in front of the Virupakasha temple is proposed to be shifted to another place to maintain the heritage look. The proposed shopping centre will be the main reporting centre for Hampi excursion. An organized trip with eco friendly mode of transport would be ideal. Further a fixed guide charges would be also be ideal depending on no of spots toured or time spent concept. After Virupaksha temple visit we walked across a lane adjescent to the right, just on a blinder, towards Hemkunta hill. Here one is astounded by the skills of rock carving work station.. It is like a canvas on which artist exhibits his painting. The granite was the main raw material for most types of monumental construction at the site – which was abundant in and around Hampi for over 200 kms. Traditionally, granite blocks were split by first cutting rows of closely spaced cubical holes into which wooden wedges were pounded. When wetted, the wedges expanded, thereby propagating deep cracks through the stone which split as per dimension required by the artisans. We found almost four temples, one was literally filled with water on the entrance, and other not so prominent temples, maybe created for low strata people of the times, even the poojary of the temple just gave us some insight, for which he was suitably tipped. The overnight heavy rain had made the rocky surface quite slippery, it was an adventure to climb Hemkunta hillock. The entire Hampi area, is visible in all its panaromic view. There is an acropolis type of two storey structure maybe for the kings to view. There is no description on this monument to my surprise. Once you start climbing down the steps which is neatly chiseled on the rocks it is adventurers delight, a neat landscaped garden leads to Sasvikalu Ganesha. It is a monolithic exposure of Lord Ganesha which is barricaded to prevent vandalism. Next we walk across we, come to Dodda Ganesh, which is again vandalized by Sultans, it is now a crude form, luckily the sanctum and veranda in not pillaged, the sculptures are exhuberance of dance and drama of the bygone era. Ugra Narasimha monolithic statue is located nearby along with Badavi Linga installed by a poor women. We got to know that autorikshaw guides are available @ Rs 250/- to take us around and we decided to hire such a guide. He spent 3 hours taking us around all the important landmark starting from Hemkunt Dodda Kalu Ganesh, Sasive Ganesh, Ugra Narasimha, Badavi Linga, Veerabhadra Temple, Lotus Mahal, Elephant’s Stable, Mahanavami Dibba, Hazaar Rama Temple & Vittala Temple. At the Mahanavmi Dibba, a celebration for Nine days was unfolded by the royalty. The king witnessed the cultural programmes such as folk dances, puppet show, fancy dress, fireworks, military parade, procession of horses and elephants, beginning with pooja to lord Durga. Even today the Government of Karnataka is trying to recreate the tradition of Vijayanagar empire by organizing HAMPI UTSAV in November first week every year. The Sultans wanted to build their own architectural edifice to match Vijaynagar rulers, Lotus Mahal, a summer resting palace was created. It had its own pond to cool the surroundings. Behind the Lotus Mahal, Elephant stables in 11 domed structure is built to house the royal animal. Once again this area is barricaded for renovation. Behind this stable if one is adventurous one can go on a trek to visit a temple winding into a mini forest. There is a small temple by the side of Lotus temple which on the outer wall of Lotus Mahal. After disposing the auto guide. We visited independently visited the balance places Sri Krishna temple, where one notices the vandalism of Sultans, who literally burnt down the temple along with people. It is rarely visited by tourist, the sculpture work is marvelous. Then went around back to Hazaar Rama temple, which is the ultimate exposure of the skills of the artisans on rock hewn walls, temples and pillars. It is a culmination of the golden era of Vijaynagar empire. It looks as if the Kings got into a mode of celeberation of life, without warfare. We find scenes from the epics Ramayana, hunting scenes, battleground warfare, courtesans entertaining the kings, hunting scene in olden days and in general description of all day to day events in the life of the royalty. The underground Shiva temple is a marvel. It is fed by water channels, which have entered the temple premises due to lack of conservation effort. Will ASI do some quick thinking otherwise it meet the fate of Musical pillar at Vittala temple. Museum at Kamalapura houses some of the restored sculptures and various other pieces of artwork is stored. Many foreign travelers scourge HAMPI in their quest for the hidden treasures of HAMPI by camping months together. Someday, someone is bound to hit the jackpot. Till then Hampi literally rocks.
How Do Muslims View Death? Life After Death Muslims believe that the present life is a trial in preparation for the next realm of existence. When a Muslim dies, he or she is washed and wrapped in a clean, white cloth (usually by a family member) and buried after a special prayer, preferably the same day. Muslims consider this a final service that they can do for their relatives and an opportunity to remember that their own existence here on earth is brief. The question of whether there is life after death does not fall under the jurisdiction of science, as science is concerned only with classification and analysis of sense data. Moreover, man has been busy with scientific inquiries and research, in the modern sense of the term, only for the last few centuries, while he has been familiar with the concept of life after death since time immemorial. All the Prophets of God called their people to worship God and to believe in life after death. They laid so much emphasis on the belief in life after death that even a slight doubt in it meant denying God and made all other beliefs meaningless. The very fact that all the Prophets of God have dealt with this metaphysical question of life after death so confidently and so uniformly - the gap between their ages in some cases, being thousands of years - goes to prove that the source of their knowledge of life after death as proclaimed by them all, was the same, i.e. Divine revelation. We also know that these Prophets of God were greatly opposed by their people, mainly on the issue of life after death, as their people thought it impossible. But in spite of opposition, the Prophets won many sincere followers. The question arises: what made those followers forsake the established beliefs, traditions and customs of their forefathers, notwithstanding the risk of being totally alienated from their own community? The simple answer is: they made use of their faculties of mind and heart and realized the truth. Did they realize the truth through perceptual consciousness? They couldn’t, as perceptual experience of life after death is impossible. God has given man besides perceptual consciousness, rational, aesthetic and moral consciousness too. It is this consciousness that guides man regarding realities that cannot be verified through sensory data. That is why all the Prophets of God while calling people to believe in God and life after death, appeal to the aesthetic, moral and rational consciousness of man. For example, when the idolaters of Makkah denied even the possibility of life after death, the Quran exposed the weakness of their stand by advancing very logical and rational arguments in support of it: And he (i.e. man) presents for Us an example (i.e. attempting to establish the finality of death) and forgets his [own] creation. He says, “Who will give life to bones while they are disintegrated?” Say, “He will give them life who produced them the first time; and He is, of all creation, Knowing.” [It is] He who made for you from the green tree, fire, and then from it you ignite. Is not He who created the heavens and the earth Able to create the likes of them? Yes, [it is so]; and He is the Knowing Creator. (Quran, 36:78-81) On another occasion, the Quran very clearly says that the disbelievers have no sound basis for their denial of life after death. It is based on pure conjecture: And they say, “There is not but our worldly life; we die and live (i.e. some people die and others live, replacing them) and nothing destroys us except time.” And they have of that no knowledge; they are only assuming. And when Our verses are recited to them as clear evidences, their argument is only that they say, “Bring [back] our forefathers, if you should be truthful.” Say, “God causes you to live, then causes you to die; then He will assemble you for the Day of Resurrection, about which there is no doubt,” but most of the people do not know. (Quran, 45:24-26) Surely God will raise all the dead. But God has His own plan of things. A day will come when the whole universe will be destroyed and then the dead will be resurrected to stand before God. That day will be the beginning of a life that will never end, and on that day every person will be rewarded by God according to his or her good or evil deeds. The explanation that the Quran gives about the necessity of life after death is what the moral consciousness of man demands. Actually, if there is no life after death, the very belief in God becomes meaningless or even if one believes in God, it would be n unjust and indifferent God, having once created man and now not being concerned with his fate. Surely, God is just. He will punish the tyrants, whose crimes are beyond count - having tortured and killed hundreds or thousands of innocent people, created great corruption in society, enslaved numerous persons to serve their whims, etc., because man has a very short life span in this world and because numerous individuals are affected by one’s actions, adequate punishments and rewards are not possible in this life. The Quran very emphatically states that the Day of Judgment must come and that God will decide the fate of each soul according to his or her record of deeds: But those who disbelieve say, “The Hour (i.e. the Day of Judgment) will not come to us.” Say, “Yes, by my Lord, it will surely come to you. [God is] the Knower of the unseen.” Not absent from Him is an atom’s weight within the heavens or within the earth or [what is] smaller than that or greater, except that it is in a clear register - That He may reward those who believe and do righteous deeds. Those will have forgiveness and noble provision. But those who strive against Our verses [seeking] to cause failure (i.e. to undermine their credibility) - for them will be a painful punishment of foul nature. (Quran, 34:3-5) The Day of Resurrection will be the Day when God’s attributes of Justice and Mercy will be in full manifestation. God will shower His mercy on those who suffered for His sake in the worldly life, believing that an eternal bliss was awaiting them. But those who abused the bounties of God, caring nothing for the life to come, will be in the most miserable state. Drawing a comparison between them, the Quran says: Then is he whom We have promised a good promise which he will meet [i.e. obtain] like he for whom We provided enjoyment of worldly life [but] then he is, on the Day of Resurrection, among those presented [for punishment in Hell]? (Quran, 28:61) The Quran also states that this worldly life is a preparation for the eternal life after death. But those who deny it become slaves of their passions and desires, making fun of virtuous and God-conscious persons. Such persons realize their folly only at the time of their death and wish to be given a further chance in the world but in vain. Their miserable state at the time of death, and the horror of the Day of Judgment, and the eternal bliss guaranteed to the sincere believers are very clearly and beautifully mentioned in the following verses of the Quran: [For such is the state of the disbelievers], until, when death comes to one of them, he says, “My Lord, send me back that I might do righteousness in that which I left behind (i.e. in that which I neglected).” No! It is only a word he is saying; and behind them is a barrier until the Day they are resurrected. So when the Horn is blown, no relationship will there be among them that Day, nor will they ask about one another. And those whose scales are heavy [with good deeds] - it is they who are the successful. But those whose scales are light - those are the ones who have lost their souls, [being] in Hell, abiding eternally. The Fire will sear their faces, and they therein will have taut smiles (i.e. their lips having been contracted by scorching until the teeth are exposed). (Quran, 23:99-104) The belief in life after death not only guarantees success in the Hereafter but also makes this world full of peace and happiness by making individuals most responsible and dutiful in their activities. Think of the people of Arabia before the arrival of the Prophet Muhammad . Gambling, wine, tribal feuds, plundering and murdering were their main traits when they had no belief in life after death. But as soon as they accepted the belief in the One God and life after death they became the most disciplined nation of the world. They gave up their vices, helped each other in hours of need, and settled all their disputes on the basis of justice and equality. Similarly the denial of life after death has its consequences not only in the Hereafter but also in this world. When a nation as a whole denies it, all kinds of evils and corruption become rampant in that society and ultimately it is destroyed. The Quran mentions the terrible end of Aad, Thamud and the Pharaoh in some detail: [The tribes of] Thamud and Aad denied the Striking Calamity [i.e. the Resurrection]. So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast]. And as for Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind which He [i.e. God] imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees. Then do you see of them any remains? And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities (i.e. those to which Lot was sent) with sin. And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried you [i.e. your ancestors] in the sailing ship (i.e. which was constructed by Noah). That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it. (Quran, 69:4-12) Events of the Day of Judgment God states in the Quran about the events of the Day of Judgment: Then when the Horn is blown with one blast, and the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow [i.e. stroke] - Then on that Day, the Occurrence [i.e. Resurrection] will occur, And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm (i.e. weak, enfeebled and unstable). And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them]. That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgment]; not hidden among you is anything concealed (i.e. any person or any secret you might attempt to conceal). So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, “Here, read my record! Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account.” So he will be in a pleasant life - In an elevated Garden, Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near. [They will be told], “Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth (i.e. literally, advanced in anticipation of reward in the Hereafter) in the days past.” But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, “Oh, I wish I had not been given my record, and had not known what is my account. I wish it [i.e. my death] had been the decisive one (i.e. ending life rather than being the gateway to eternal life). My wealth has not availed me. Gone from me is my authority.” [God will say], “Seize him and shackle him. Then into Hellfire drive him. Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him.” Indeed, he did not used to believe in God, the Most Great. (Quran, 69:13-33) The Prophet Muhammad taught that three things continue to benefit a [believing] person even after death - charity which he had given (which continues to benefit others), beneficial knowledge which he had left behind (i.e. authored or taught), and supplication on his behalf by a righteous child (Narrated by Saheeh Muslim). Thus, there are very convincing reasons to believe in life after death: 1) All the Prophets of God have called their people to believe in it. 2) Whenever a human society is built on the basis of this belief, it has been the most ideal and peaceful society, free of social and moral evils. 3) History bears witness that whenever this belief is rejected collectively by a group of people in spite of the repeated warning of the Prophet, the group as a whole has been punished by God even in this world. 4) Moral, aesthetic and rational faculties of man endorse the possibility of the life after death. 5) God’s attributes of Justice and Mercy have no meaning if there is no life after death.
Who created the art for the movie Cashback? In the end of the movie Cashback, the main character Ben, gets his work exhibited in an art gallery. They are all images of his love/coworker. But I thought they were beautiful. I looked everywhere and I really don't think Sean Biggerstaff drew these. I've gotta know who the REAL artist is. The work was really beautiful and inspiring... after all somebody had to make it! Help please. (By the way, they were pencil drawings, with colored pencils/maybe watercolors, paint involved. As far as the medium goes. There were white sections left unpainted also mixed in with these portraits.)

Even though Korea recognized acupuncture and Joe's grand father is the top acupuncture physician there, he can't help. Others specialist can not do much for remedy. Being a father of an autistic kid, his father has a lot of pressure and looking for answer desperately. There finally came to see our MASTER LEONG through high recommendation from a friend. When he first came into our centre everyone in the premise had a shock from his 'super-hyper active behavior'.Jumping and screaming all over the place and zero communication and eyes contact. He is in his own world, very scared and frustrated, until he hits himself on the head continuous for about 10 mins to 30 mins. Master Leong applied Qi Qong and acupuncture treatment to calmed him down. According to Master Leong it is his brain's Qi is not moving smoothly . He calm down after 30 minutes ,then had another session of Qi Qong and acupuncture after one hour. 3 days of treatment went by and they can see that Joe can respond to instruction from his father and has some eyes contact. They went back to Korea because his father has only 3 days of lift from work, but he book for the second visit that is after six months. He took 6 months of herbal medication ( 168 TOLE'S SPECIAL BRAIN'S POWDER )home and a list of do's and done's . After 6 months they came for 30 days of treatment. We saw a lot of different from 6 months back when they first visit us. The father is so happy and told us he have finally found the right place for his son Joe. He said all his relative in Korea said he has improved a lot since he took our treatment and special brain's powder. For the 30 days here everyday he has 2 session of treatment, that is 60 treatments in total. We can see him improving everyday and in the end of the treatment he was about 80% !!! recovered. They have to go home now and promise to come in 12 months time. This time he took 12 months of medication (Tole's Brain's powder) with him. The 3rd visit comes, he was almost 100% recovered!!! when we see him. Still we give him the same treatment for 30 days. AUTISM Isolated in worlds of their own, people with autism appear indifferent and remote and are unable to form emotional bonds with others. Although people with this baffling brain disorder can display a wide range of symptoms and disability, many are incapable of understanding other people's thoughts, feelings, and needs. Often, language and intelligence fail to develop fully, making communication and social relationships difficult. Many people with autism engage in repetitive activities, like rocking or banging their heads, or rigidly following familiar patterns in their everyday routines. Some are painfully sensitive to sound, touch, sight, or smell. Children with autism do not follow the typical patterns of child development. In some children, hints of future problems may be apparent from birth. In most cases, the problems become more noticeable as the child slips farther behind other children the same age. Other children start off well enough. But between 18 and 36 months old, they suddenly reject people, act strangely, and lose language and social skills they had already acquired. As a parent, teacher, or caregiver you may know the frustration of trying to communicate and connect with children or adults who have autism. You may feel ignored as they engage in endlessly repetitive behaviors. You may despair at the bizarre ways they express their inner needs. And you may feel sorrow that your hopes and dreams for them may never materialize. But there is help-and hope. Gone are the days when people with autism were isolated, typically sent away to institutions. Today, many youngsters can be helped to attend school with other children. Methods are available to help improve their social, language, and academic skills. Autism is found in every country and region of the world, and in families of all racial, ethnic, religious, and economic backgrounds. Emerging in childhood, it affects about 3 or 4 people in every thousand and is three to four times more common in boys than girls. Girls with the disorder, however, tend to have more severe symptoms and lower intelligence. THE TOLE is dedicated to understanding the workings and inter-relationships of the various regions of the brain, and to developing preventive measures and new treatments for disorders like autism that handicap people in school, work, and social relationships and brain damage or vegetable. What is ADHD? ADHD often prevents children from learning and socializing well. Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and attention deficit disorder (ADD) refer to a range of problem behaviors associated with poor attention span. These may include impulsiveness, restlessness and hyperactivity, as well as inattentiveness, and often prevent children from learning and socializing well. ADHD is sometimes referred to as hyper kinetic disorder. What are the symptoms of ADHD Attention difficulties A child must have exhibited at least six of the following symptoms for at least six months to an extent that is unusual for their age and level of intelligence. Fails to pay close attention to detail or makes careless errors during work or play. Fails to finish tasks or sustain attention in play activities. Seems not to listen to what is said to him or her. Fails to follow through instructions or to finish homework or chores (not because of confrontational behavior or failure to understand instructions). Disorganized about tasks and activities. Avoids tasks like homework that require sustained mental effort. Loses things necessary for certain tasks or activities, such as pencils, books or toys. Easily distracted. Forgetful in the course of daily activities. Hyperactivity A child must have exhibited at least three of the following symptoms for at least six months to an extent that is unusual for their age and level of intelligence. Runs around or excessively climbs over things Unduly noisy in playing, or has difficulty in engaging in quiet leisure activities. Leaves seat in classroom or in other situations where remaining seated is expected. Fidgets with hands or feet or squirms on seat. Impulsivity At least one of the following symptoms must have persisted at least for six months to an extent that is unusual for their age and level of intelligence. Blurts out answers before the questions have been completed. Fails to wait in lines or await turns in games or group situations. Interrupts or intrudes on others, e.g. jump into others conversations or games. Talks excessively without appropriate response to social restraint. Pervasiveness of attention difficulties and hyperactivity For a diagnosis or description of ADHD a child would be expected to show the above difficulties in more than one setting, e.g. at school and at home. Problems are not shown 'at home' but are very evident when a child goes to a hospital department. This can happen when parents do not realize that their child's behavior is out of the normal range (perhaps because they have no other children, or they have other children who behave similarly). It may also be because the problems are mild, or because the family has handled the attention lack at home in such a way that it is not evident there is a major problem, or because the child is very young. In those cases it is quite reasonable for parents not to consider that their child has an attention deficit problem. These conditions has a good chance to be treated, it will take time and effort to do it. The Tole's way of remedies for them is not easy and tedious, the good part is it works with many of them. Some adults that just have AD should be able to recovers too with our Remedies. The Tole's Brain Powder Autism ADHD Treatment for all special kids Treatment. Epilepsy can also cause unusual behavior and lead to abnormal perceptions. Hearing problems such as deafness or glue ear can make it hard for a child to follow instructions and make them appear inattentive. Reading problems, making it hard to complete tasks or follow instructions. Obsessive compulsive disorder leads to people following strange rituals that preoccupy their thoughts and distract their attention. Tourette's syndrome involves repetitive, involuntary jerking movements of the body and sudden outbursts of noise or swearing. Autism and Asperger's syndrome often lead to difficulties in understanding and using language. Prolonged periods of insufficient sleep, causing poor concentration. Some children may be very active or be easily distracted or have difficulty concentrating. If these behaviours are relatively mild, they should not be considered a disorder. Others difficulties that occurs alongside Autism ADHD ADHD often occurs alongside other difficulties and is not the sole cause of problem behavior. Children may exhibit temper tantrums, sleep disorders, and be clumsy. Other behavioral problems that occur with ADHD include: confrontational defiant behavior, which occurs in most of these kids. The child loses their temper, argues and refuses to comply with adults and deliberately annoys others. conduct disorders occur in at least 25 per cent of children. The child may be destructive or show deceitful behavior such as lying, breaking rules and stealing. specific learning difficulties, including dyslexia, occur in 25-30 per cent of children. severe clinical depression occurs in about 30 per cent of children. anxiety disorders occur in 30 per cent of children. What causes ADHD? Biological Temperamental, as this contributes to their attitude and personality. Twins suggest a genetic link to ADHD. In 80-90 per cent of identical twins where one has ADHD so does the other. Recent research also suggests there is a greater chance of inheriting the condition from male relatives such as grandfathers and uncles. Brain injuries due to birth trauma or pre-birth problems. The brain structures believed to be linked to the development of ADHD are vulnerable to hypoxic damage during birth. The damage is caused by inadequate oxygen (QI flow) reaching parts of the brain while blood flow is reduced. Environmental conditions: Family stress. Educational difficulties. ADHD diagnosis Observations to the assessment of a child with possible ADHD. There is no single diagnostic test for ADHD so different sorts of information needs to be gathered, such as the following: History of symptoms The precise nature of the difficulties, when they were first noticed, in what situations they occur, factors that exacerbate or relieve them. Medical history Risk factors that could predispose the child to ADHD include difficulties and risks in pregnancy and during birth, for example if the mother was in poor health, very young or drank alcohol or smoked or had an extended or complicated labor. Several medical conditions are known to be associated with ADHD. These include fragile-X syndrome, fetal alcohol syndrome, G6PD deficiency, phenylketonuria and generalized resistance to thyroid hormone. Accidents, operations and chronic medical conditions such as epilepsy, asthma and heart, liver and kidney disorders all need to be taken in to account. Also of possible relevance is any medication the child is taking, as well as any adverse reactions they have had to medication in the past. Past psychiatric history: Enquiring about any mental health problems the child has had can help rule out depression or anxiety being behind the symptoms. Educational history: This means the level of their ability and what specific difficulties they have, how they function within their peer group and get on with teachers, and any behavior difficulties such as suspensions or exclusions. Family history: The mental and physical health of the child's parents and other family members can be relevant, particularly regarding the incidence of ADHD or depression. Less then 1% ahs the family history but this is one of the research data base. Social assessment: The family's social circumstances, such as housing, poverty, and social support may all have an impact on the child's behavior. Less then 4 % has this problem but it should be taken into consideration. What treatment is available for ADHD? Shakespeare vs. King James via King Lear? I'm a little confused as to what my professor might be saying in this question... "Following is a speech by King James I to Parliament in 1609. You remember that we do not know how James reacted to the play of just what Shakespeare might have been trying to say to him. Read, and write a paragraph about how this passage shifts the source of the play for you. " Speech: Estate of monarchy is the supremest thing upon earth; for kings are not only God's lieutenants upon earth, and sit upon God's throne, but even by God himself they are called gods. There be three principal similitudes that illustrate the state of monarchy: one taken out of the word of God; and the two other out of the grounds of policy and philosophy. In the Scriptures kings are called the gods, and so their power after a certain relation compared to the divine power. Kings are also compared to fathers of families; for a king is truly parens patriae, the politic father of his people. And lastly, kings are compared to the head of this microcosm of the body of man. Kings are justly calls gods, for that they exercise a manner or resemblance of divine power upon earth; for if you will consider the attributes to God, you shall see how they agree in the person of a king. God hath power to create or destroy, make war or unmake at his pleasure, to give life or send death, to judge all and to be judged nor accountable to none, to raise low things and to make high things low at his pleasure, and to God are both soul and body due. And the like power have kings: they make and unmake their subjects, they have power of raising and casting down, of life and of death, judges over all their subjects and in all causes and yet accountable to none but God only. They have power to exalt low things and abase high things, and make of their subjects, like men at the chess, -- a pawn to take a bishop or a knight -- and to cry up or down any of their subjects, as they do their money. And to the King is due both the affection of the soul and the service of the body of his subjects. . . . I would wish you to be careful to avoid three things in the matter of grievances: First, that you do not meddle with the main points of government; that is my craft: tractent fabrilia fabri, -- to meddle with that were to lessen me. I am now an old king; for six and thirty years have I governed in Scotland personally, and now I have accomplished my apprenticeship of seven years here; and seven years is a great time for a king's experience in government; therefore there should not be too many Phormios to teach Hannibal: I must not be taught my office. Secondly, I would not have you meddle with such ancient rights of mine as I have received them from my predecessors, possessing them more majorum; such things I would be sorry should be accounted for grievances. All novelties are dangerous as well in a politic as in a natural body, and therefore I would be loath to be quarreled in my ancient rights and possessions; for that were to judge my unworthy of that which my predecessors had and left me. And, lastly, I pray you beware to exhibit for grievance anything that is established by settled law, and whereunto (as you have already had a proof) you know I will never give a plausible answer; for it is an undutiful part in subjects to press their king, wherein they know beforehand he will refuse them. How do I answer this question? I'm not sure she worded it right did she?
Is this correct? psychology question classical operant conditioning!!!? please read and tell me if i am understanding this correctly!! "Classical conditioning is a process of behavior modification where the subject begins to respond in a desired manner to a previously neutral stimulus that has been repeatedly paired with an unconditioned stimulus. The neutral stimulus then becomes conditioned and causes the conditioned response. Operant conditioning is behavior modification in which the likelihood of a specific behavior is increased or decreased through positive or negative reinforcement each time the behavior is exhibited, so that the subject comes to associate the pleasure or displeasure of the reinforcement with the behavior. The main difference between the two is that in classical conditioning the conditioned stimulus is presented before the unconditioned stimulus and in Operant conditioning the reinforcement is presented after the response. Skinner is associated with operant conditioning and Pavlov is associated with classical."

II. Statement of Facts 14. On or about September 12, 2004 Joanna Cipriano, a native Portuguese girl disappeared mysteriously in the Portuguese town of Figueira. As a result, Leonor and Joao Cipriano, both native Portuguese, were abruptly arrested, accused of murder, convicted, and sentenced to a long prison term. The body of the supposed murdered victim was never found. Every since their imprisonment, both defendants have denied the murder accusation and maintained conclusively, that their confession was forcibly obtained by extra judicial methods consisting of cruel and savage torture inflicted on them by members of the Policia Judiciaria (PJ) of Portugal, under the leadership of police officials Goncalo Amaral, Paolo Cristovao and other accomplices who now must face a criminal trial for their actions. Joao Cipriano, one of the defendants in the case, have stated additionally that Joanna was abducted to be "sold" into a paedophile network with connections in Portugal, a country internationally identified as a true paradise for pederast and paedophiles, where they reign with impunity and enjoy the protection of government institutions such as the PJ. Meanwhile, the other defendant in the case, Leonor Cipriano, denounced publicly the vicious beatings and different forms of torture she was a victim of, by PJ personnel during interrogations without the presence of an Attorney or knowledge by the public prosecutor. To show proof of her information and statements, she referred to a photograph published in a newspaper wherein she appears with a very heavily-bruised face almost unrecognisable as a result of the brutal beatings by PJ members during the interrogations. The only ground in the case the PJ used to form the basis upon which the defendants were accused of murdering Joanna, was an allegation that she saw Joao and Leonor having sex and that to keep it secret and preventing her from divulging it, they killed her. During trail, the defence argued strenuously that the PJ accusation was false, that they did not conducted a thorough investigation of the case, and that the hasty, abrupt manner, and methods by which they proceeded to charge the defendants, appeared to be part of an outside interest unrelated to the nature of the case. Two On the night of May 3, 2007 in Praia da Luz, Portugal, British national Madeleine Beth Mc Cann, then age three, was abducted by someone while she was sleeping in a room of an apartment located at the Mark Warner Ocean Club Resort in that town. In this case, the PJ officers directed by Goncalo Amaral (again) acted similarly as they did in the previous case, that is, by hastily accusing the parents of being responsible for the death of the child, without having any valid evidence to sustain the accusation. There was no formal arrest or trial on the case, but there was an interrogation session and the lodging of a suspect status under Portuguese law against both parents. In addition, the mother of the abducted child was offered a two year prison term "deal" during the interrogation if she falsely admitted killing her daughter. The defendant refused the ridiculous and outrageous "deal" offered by the PJ. In this case like in others, PJ officials insistently rejected the version that Madeleine was abducted and instead kept accusing her parents of killing the child without any concrete evidence. Like in previous cases, private detectives working to find the child also stated that Madeleine was abducted to be "sold" to rich paedophiles who "buy" children on orders to become their personal property and sex slaves. The facts in this case related to the modus operandi by the PJ during times when a real investigation and search for the abducted child should have been conducted are overwhelming and point out to official complicity. However, the many details that make up the evidence are technically argumentative and do not belong in this section now, therefor, they will not be included but it may suffice to state that just like in the previous case, the PJ did not really investigated the crime; instead they kept focusing insistently on accusing the parents without any evidence and for unexplained reasons, while invoking a law that provides secrecy during proceedings as the base supporting their refusal to explain their actions. Three Before the Joanna Cipriano case in Figueira wherein the PJ accused her family without any real evidence of killing her, three year old Portuguese native Carolina Santos also vanished mysteriously as well, after she was last seen walking away in the company of a man unknown to all neighbours. In that case, the PJ -again- accused the parents of being responsible for her disappearance or unproved death without having any objective evidence. The case did not received much publicity, and the PJ does not even keep any information on the case in their missing persons section at their web site, making it almost impossible to obtain precise information or details on the case. And just like in previous cases, family members of Carolina Santos have said repeatedly that she was abducted by one or more henchman working for rich paedophiles linked to members of the Portuguese officialdom, and taken out of the country to be "sold." The case of Carolina Santos and the others provide an insight by showing a pattern the PJ has utilised in every child abduction in Portugal, by using the method of not investigating the crime, but instead accusing parents of either killing the abducted child or being part of the disappearance while in the absence of any concrete evidence to support the accusations. There are other child abduction cases in Portugal with similar characteristics too numerous to mention here and to comply with Rule 47 (d) of the Court requiring statements in this section to be succinct. III. Statement(s) on the Violation(s) of the Convention and/or Protocols and Relevant Arguments 15. According to Article 1 of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, every contracting State member has the obligation to secure and respect all human rights, including the right of children in their jurisdiction, not to be kidnapped with the direct or indirect aid of any official institution or entity. Article 1-- Obligation to respect human rights read as follows: "The Contracting Parties shall secure to everyone within their jurisdiction the rights and freedoms defined in Section 1 of this Convention" The corroborative facts outlined in the Statement of Facts section expose an scandalous social reality and corruption in the entire judicial system of Portugal, that allows a traditional heinous criminal activity in that country connected with sexual perversion against children, at the highest social levels of Portuguese society and government. It is a gross violation of the obligation to protect and secure the human right of any children, not to be kidnapped for perverted purposes, within the jurisdiction of the State of Portugal as a Contracting Party according to the Convention's definition. Convention Rule 53 --Safeguard for existing human rights by a Contracting State. The criminal tradition of paedophilia in Portugal was dramatically exposed recently by the facts surrounding the scandal known as Casa Pia, wherein hundreds of children officially entrusted to the staff, where brutally abused sexually by rape and other depraved acts during a period no less than thirty five years. The subsequent investigations of the evil and horrendous ordeal that destroyed the life of many youngsters, revealed the direct participation of prominent Portuguese elite society members, who acted with impunity under the auspices and protection of the judiciary system -including the PJ- to carry on their perverted criminal activity that is deeply entrenched in the upper class and officialdom of Portugal. It is within this evilly sordid social environment kept subtly yet publicly and widely known but forbidden to criticise or condemn, that well-planned and organised abductions of children for perverse reasons on behalf of very rich and powerful people, are carried out with the knowledge, direct or indirect participation of individuals connected with Portuguese government institutions. These statements are supported by the above-mentioned facts, and the suspicious performance of the PJ in the recent case related to British citizen Madeleine Mc Cann to be explained in detail at an appropriate future opportunity. The allowable existence of the criminal activity described above is a gross violation of Portugal as a Contracting State, requiring an in-depth and thoroughly exhaustible independent inquiring in order to know the truth behind the abduction of children and their whereabouts, whether they are still alive or dead. The complainant very strongly believes on the basis of the reasons stated above, that the true answers to the many unanswered questions regarding the abduction and disappearance of children in Portugal, can be found within the official structure of its own government and those who work or act on its behalf. The statements in this section of the Complaint are sufficient to convey the intended message to request the attention of this Court, to an extremely grave reality needing an immediate correction in the Contracting State of Portugal. The life of abducted children and of their families are being destroyed by this extremely evil and criminal activity that must end. Paedophilia in Portugal (and in Spain too) is a "tradition" deeply entrenched in the psyche, that has thrived unchecked for many generations thanks to official condoning, aiding, protection and support, on behalf of a perverted, rich and powerful elite class. The mere existence of this aberrant behaviour in any Contracting State is a violation of fundamental human rights. IV. Statements Relative to Article 35 of the Convention 16. This Complaint is not presented by an anonymous. 17. This Complaint has never been examined by this Court, and it has not been submitted to another procedure of international investigation or settlement. 18. This Complaint is not incompatible with the provisions of the Convention for the protection of human rights in any Contracting State. This Complaint is not ill-founded nor an abuse of the right to request relief to this Court. All statements made herein can be verified and corroborated. V. Statement(s) on the Purpose of this Complaint 19. The main reason for presenting this Complaint is to request this Court to order a thorough independent investigation of the Policia Judiciaria (PJ) of Portugal, on the true reasons for its suspicious and/or ambiguous performance related to the abduction cases mentioned in the Statement of Facts section of this document. Particular attention is requested on the cases related to Joanna Cipriano and Madeleine Mc Cann in view of their characteristics and great similarities. The other reason is to request the Court to consider the contents and information available at the Internet address http://madeleine-mccann-blog.blogspot.com as part of the documentation pertaining to this Complaint. The reason for this request is that the contents in that Internet address, feature information and names of individuals who should be of interest and concern in the requested investigation process. VI. Statement(s) concerning other International Proceedings 20. This Complaint has not been submitted to any international proceeding or investigation anywhere nor is there a resolution or judgement pending at any agency or tribunal with respect to the nature of its contents. VII. List of Exhibits Attached 21. (a) None (b) None (c) None VIII. Does he care? So my husband and I are split up. We have been living apart from each other four months now. I still love him and of course I wish in some way it could work out. We have two daughters together. I know he loves our daughters but I am afraid they don't see his love. They ask about him all the time. They even ask me to take them to see him. I started out just telling them, Daddy is at work we cannot go see him right now. Then they caught on. But come on a person can only work so much. At least the 5-year-old thinks that. LOL. What has me bothered is that he never calls to talk to them or even check on them. He never comes to see them. And I do not prevent any of these things from happening. My oldest daughter is now acting out. She is five years old. My youngest thinks she is attached to my hip. She does not want me out of her sight. She wants me to do everything for her. I know she is a child but she is four. I don't mind doing things for my children it's just when they act as if they are incapable of doing the smallest task like itching their own itch. I left my husband because he was abusive to me. The last incident our daughters saw. In fact my oldest jumped on his back to get him off me. My oldest daughter will see a therapist soon. As well as me. Since I have left him, it’s like one thing after another going wrong in his life. Of course I am the blame for it. He thinks. He has started taking steroids along with weed smoking. He was late on two house payments. Both of his cars stopped working. He got a roommate. A pot head, this guy is. This roommate has been locked up for assault of some kind, I guess he just got out of jail or prison a couple of months ago. I still visit my husband every once in a while. I don’t know why. But he will swear up and down it's for the sex. The sad thing is it's not for the sex. But he is convinced he has a crown on both of his heads. I am only 23 and he is 25. He took my virginity at the age of 16 by 17 I had a baby. So I know a part of my problem is he is my norm” I guess I am afraid of the unknown or is it called be lonely? And I keep falling in what I call his traps.” Over the weekend we were supposed to meet up with each other. He told me he was going to finish watching some fight on show times. Then drop off his buddy off and then he would meet me at our house. His house which I am on the lease as well. I live about two hours away from him now. It was seven at night when we talked about meeting up. I arrived at his house around nine at night. He wasn't there so I let my self in with my key to the house. I called him a couple of times, I got no answer. So I started text messaging him. I never got a response from him, for some reason. I guess I was being, sneaking. I left him a text message which would make him unsure if I would be their. I guess I want to see if he brought anyone home with him. Which did happen during this four month split. So 4:00 a.m. rolls around along with the banging on the door. It was my husband and I screwed up and locked the deadbolt. So I had locked him out. I didn't mean to. He had his buddy with him and he was pissed I was there. Like we never talked about it or made a plan. He told me to get the fuck up, and I was laying on his buddy’s bed. Which was my fucking couch. I got up like nothing was wrong. But I was furious and hurt. He started making jokes like who the fuck does she think she is coming in my mother F'en house. He demanded for his key back, I gave it to him as if it didn’t bother me. I just said sorry and walked out. I was crying in side but didn't let him know it. As I was leaving, he made a comment like “I know you came over for the dick.” In front of his friend. As if I was just a whore of his. I told him that's not why I came over. He said well you have two in here you can have. He meant I could or he would let his buddy screw me as well. What the F Why? Why would he say that? To be completely honest my husband is the only man I have been with. For goodness he was the first guy that I ever let kiss me. The very next day his excuse was he was drunk. This took place on Saturday. Well Tuesday rolls around he says he needs me to take him somewhere or his car was going to be impounded. It was seven so I got there around nine at night. I knock on the door, My husband opens it, for me to smell the joint he and pot head just put out and he had a smile on his face and red glassing eyes. I told him I was going, and I did not want to be around it, the weed. He pulled me in and point upstairs told me to go up to the bed room. Like I was his personal whore. Well up the stairs I went, As I waited in the room. I heard him laughing downing stairs. Shortly after that he came up stairs. And what do you know he lied to me about why he needs me to come over. So as he is trying to undress me I am aggravated. Because I have just driven two hours away from my kids. I thought he was in trouble and I was going to help. HELP Well I guess the only help I was going to be doing was giving him that release. Anyway I am telling him at this point he was wrong for doing this to me. He proceeds to tell me “I knew and I wanted it” that's why I came over to his house. Then tells me he could have called someone else. He asked why do you think I called you. Well, hell I don't know why Why would he? So after he had his way. He gets up really quick. I don't even know if he put clothes back on before he went down stairs. Just to laugh with his ( pot head boyfriend). I sat there for a second and cried. He made me feel dirty and worthless. So I got my clothes on got my car keys went down stairs he told me to sit down on the couch with him. I was trying to act like I was okay with it. Until... He ask me to go to sonic for him. I told him, no. Then he demanded me to go. I was tired of him treating me like a dog, just for his and potheads amusement. So I told him I was leaving and he wasn't going to treat me like that or talk to me that way. So he took my cell phone which is in his name and made me leave. I was pissed. I broke a picture of him and me that he wanted me to take. It embarrassed me that I let my anger come out like that. I feet like that was weak of me. I didn’t want him laughing at me especially because he was being mean to me though. No excuses, it was wrong and I regret breaking it. He says he is done with me, he doesn't want me you know all of those pleasant things manipulators say. Which really is kind of a relief to me. I feel free. I don't know that I would ever be smart enough to stay away from him on my terms. I know what's good for my kids. And an environment like that and the behavior he exhibits in front of the girls is in no way good or okay. Why do I keep letting him trap me? I am smart enough to keep my kids from it but not my self. My girls are my world and mean every thing to me. I would give my life for them. I am confused if he ever cared about them why not now? Especially now? When they are confused and have been hurt by him. Am I making more out of this? Do you think at the age of my daughters they would think he has deserted them? I don't and do not allow anyone around my kids to talk negative about their daddy. My girls can talk or ask about him. The main question is will you take me to daddy’s house. They have asked if daddy doesn't like us anymore. It hurts me That they might feel unwanted? Or is it me be afraid of not being wanted. Am I the one that is afraid that my daughters and I or unwanted?

Horror Museums? Did anyone go to the Palladium Cellars in London when they were open about 20-25 years ago? I think I was 7 and ran out of the first exhibit and saved by a steward before running into the main road - i almost sh1t my pants I was so scared! London Dungeon doesn't compare. This place has full animatronic werewolves, dracula, mummies etc although I only saw punch and judy working with no puppeteer and the werewolf (which I didn't realise would rattle is cage when you approached it) at that point I ran! Am surprised it didn't take off big time as a museum. Punch still scares me now!
tempted by prescription drugs? I’ve really been scaring myself lately. I find myself increasingly anxious and depressed, mostly at night when there is nothing to do, and it’s at this time, when I’m lying in bed or surfing the web that my mind drifts to drugs. I keep thinking about taking the prescription drugs that I know are in my house just out of curiosity. I’ve never even smoked weed so I have no history of being drug-curious, but for some reason, the allure is there. During the day, I think about what was going through my head the night before and almost laugh at the stupidity of it, but then that night, it happens all over again. Anyone heard of exhibiting the psychological signs of addiction without having taken the drug? Anyway. My main question is: what the hell is wrong with me? Why am I thinking about these drugs, and how can I stop? And I should mention that I can’t really throw the drugs out because they belong to my parents; they’d probably notice and assume I was doing them anyway. (Irony, anybody?) "That's the dumbest thing I've heard in my life." Big fan of that show. And thanks for the response.

Prohibition Help? (research project).? I am doing an ndh project on prohibition. the theme this year is "Conflict and Compromise in the United States" and we have to do a exhibit (sorta like science fair exhibit with 3 sides and stuff). I've decided to do the left side conflict, right compromise, and middle visual. For the topics I am going to right about on both sides is - -Conflict --The Prohibition Party and Woman's Christian Temperance Union --Reasons for Prohibition --conflicts sparked from prohibition --effects on the united states and for compromise i have -compromise --why was there a compromise --repeal of prohibition --how did the repeal affect the united states. The main focus I can't really find is "how did the repeal affect the united states." and that means all the way until today. Can anyone help me give me some ideas on mainly that category, or some really original ideas on the other categories, or even a subdivision for conflict or compromise. The help would be greatly appreciated.
HYPOthydroidism? These are the symptoms: http://www.healthscout.com/ency/68/34/main.html#SymptomsofHypothyroidism However, I'm wondering if I can have HYPOthydroidism even if I don't exhibit some of the signs? I'm always cold, dizzy, tired, have inability to concentrate for too long, depressed without reason but I don't show it outwardly... I bruise easily, but for cuts, I heal pretty fast. I weigh 90lbs (I think it's muscle loss). I use to be 107lb when I was involved in athletics. I'm 5ft 3-4". Also I suffer from hyperhydrosis (sweating of hands and feet). Planning to see the doc next month, since I'll be moving to a different province in a few weeks. Any suggestions for the moment? I'm 22 female.
